interlude

the sky is pearly gray
before rain falls.
thunder rumbles at a distance
growing closer and closer.
the wind blows through,
trees swaying in its wake
dancers in an ancient and forgotten ritual
a crack of lightning briefly lightens the world
as the sky opens to let its tears fall

i sit by my window to watch this magic
you are out there somewhere
is it raining where you are?
does the wind still whip your hair as before
do you still look upto the sky, open arms
to catch the falling raindrops
and let the coldness caress your skin?
do you still laugh at each boom of thunder
and crack of lightning, feeling its power,
allowing yourself the same reckless abandon?

rain falls on the rooftops
like the beating of a thousand hearts
suicidally falling to their doom
it crashes against my window pane
into a thousand crystals of water
until it blurs the world completely from my eyes.
the coldness creeps into where i am.
is it raining where you are?
